Shopping in Naples Florida

Groceries

You'll probably find yourself spending a lot of time in the Publix grocery stores. Sometimes it feels as if they're on every corner. Publix is a quality store with good delis, meats and fresh fish.  There's also plenty of roadside fruit and vegetable stands in the Naples area. Usually the best one will be the one closest to you. Here are a couple of food and specialty food retailers that have a very good reputation and that I can recommend:

  • The Fresh Market. Very popular market and very good. Specialty foods, fruits, vegetables, wines, fresh fish, deli items, sandwiches and many other fresh specialties. Definitely worth a visit. This is not a place you would necessarily find by driving by, you would have to know about it. On Tamiami, three stop lights south of Pine Ridge Road in the Park Shore Plaza.
  • Oakes Farm Market. Also a popular market with fresh fruits, vegetables, specialty foods, deli, fish and meat departments. Located at the western end of Davis Blvd. North side of the road.
  • Third Street South's. Farmers Market Farmers, craft vendors, growers and mini-distributors set up their stands in the Third Street South area's parking lot. It can be a fun walk through. 7:30am to noon on Saturdays.
  • Wild Oaks. Similar to the Fresh Market. Good stuff. On Airport Rd, just north of Pine Ridge.
  • Rodes Fresh and Fancy. Nice selection of fresh fish, oysters and there's a restaurant attached. If you don't feel like cooking, then order things to go from the restaurant. Located on Bonita Beach Road 3/4 miles west of Tamiami.

Large Retailers

All the major retailers such as Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, WalMart, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc, etc, have multiple locations throughout the Naples area.

Furniture Stores

If you're moving into a new place you'll need an assortment of window treatments, wall hanging, mirrors, patio items and interior furniture. There are numerous retailers to help you with those tasks. All the major furniture stores' design-salespeople are accustomed to working with all sorts of floor plans. So bring a copy of your plan with you.

The furniture and furnishing business is very competitive, so by all means be asking for a discount whether you're buying one item or furnishing your whole place. If you are on a tight budget, there's plenty of good conditioned used furniture available on the market. It's not uncommon for people to move within two years of their initial purchase into an upgrade. So many in this group  end up re-selling large portions of their original furnishing.

Most of the more popular furniture stores are located on Tamiami Trail (US 41). It's an easy thing to start at one end and work your way to the other; stopping at the various furniture stores along the way.  Here's a few of the more popular furniture stores on Tamiami.

  • Arhaus Furniture - Finer furnishings.
  • Baer's Furniture - A large assortment of value and fine furniture on display
  • Havertys - Large selection of familiar brand name furniture on display.
  • Norris Furniture and Interiors -  Fine and everyday furnishings.
  • Pottery Barn - Selective items available.
  • Rob & Stucky - Fine Furnshings.
  • Rooms to Go - Value furnishing. A very popular place for people trying to furnish the bulk of their new two-bedroom unit in one stop.
  • Thomasville Home Furnishings - Area assortment on display plus a wide selection available from their proprietary catalog.
