Organic "Superior" Wine Tasting with Lunch on Vesuvius

We went on a wine tasting tour at Catina Del Vesuvio, and Alfonso drove us from Sorrento to Mt. Vesuvius. He was incredible! From great recommendations to singing for us in the car, he truly gave it 100% to make sure our trip was exactly what we wanted. He even taught us about the history of what makes the food in the region so amazing (and where to get these fresh fruits/veggies for cheap)! I cannot say enough about how special our day was thanks to Alfonso.

The place is beautiful, the wines are pleasant, as is the food. The tour was quite short with relatively little information but then it was a pretty hot day so we appreciated the opportunity to sit down. The owner is a ‘character’ - lots of jokes with a humour based around gender stereotypes- be prepared to just go with the flow and take that as part of the ‘typical’ experience. It’s a family run business and family does not get to select staff based on ‘political correctness’.

great experience outside of Naples. A very hot week in Italy and touring this winery made the day so memorable. Transportation from and to our hotel provided. We had a tour of the winery and a set menu with wine pairing. Suggestion for the staff to share the pairing of the wine with the first course. There were three wines to have with the cheese, cured meats and pickled vegetables. We were told after we started digging in and the third wine with the first dish was being poured. Love the family pride with this place. Got to meet the owner, and owner's father this day. Brought back some memories - the chicken water pitcher is a highlight and conversation starter.
